Based in the Brewer and Butcher Restaurant within the magnificent new Strand Hotel, the Swakopmund Brewing Company was founded as a “creative home” for our highly skilled German trained brewers in order for them to experiment, explore and unleash their brewing creativity. These brewers spend their lives at Namibia Breweries Limited, brewing a range of quality brands that conform strictly to the Reinheitsgebot brewing philosophy and require brewer precision, consistency and a slavish adherence to age old recipes. Whilst our brewers totally respect this philosophy, and appreciate the global quality awards that come as a result, they also welcome the creative freedom that the Swakopmund Brewing Company affords them.
Of course, as any Namibian will tell you, to truly appreciate a pure Namibian beer you need to compliment it with great quality dishes featuring Namibian beef, venison or pork. It was this thought which inspired the creation of the Brewer and Butcher restaurant.

Our beer range includes seasonal beers, which are crafted for Namibian winter and summer temperatures alike. Enjoy Maibock, Doppelbock or Smokebeer in a cosy environment when the temperature drops, and Weizen when the day’s a scorcher.
Or try one of our celebration brews, which are synonymous with the Swakopmund Brewing Company. Toast with a Festbeer at a jovial Oktoberfest table or cheer the passing parades at the Küska Karneval with an Alt & Kolsch. This range further includes the Rauchfleisch & Rachbierwoche, Rheinische Woche, Bayerische Woche and that familiar favorite, Ale.
